Dad's Birthday

Mom and I got back in town just in time for Dad's birthday!  We brought him some BYU

Creamery chocolate milk home.  We tied a bow on it and put it in the fridge.  I guess he was a little protective of his chocolate milk because the next day after Catherine had some of the milk, she was putting it back and noticed that Dad had marked a fill line before he left for work. It was too late.  We were caught.  But it was pretty funny.  We took dad to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday.  Little did we know that they have a birthday saddle for you to sit on while they sing.  Dad loved it! ;)

BYU or Bust

The last week of August, Mom and I were able to drive Andrew out to BYU.  It was a great experience.  I loved driving with them.   I haven't driven out west since we took Catherine to BYU-Idaho her freshman year.  Since she just graduated from St. Louis University with her masters, I say it's been awhile.  We made a short detour to visit David, Ayanna, and Shaia in Kansas City.  The weather was beautiful all along the way.  We took a great scenic drive through Colorado and Utah.  We stayed the night in a town outside of Denver and stopped for lunch the next day in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which was the town where my parents stayed on their honeymoon.  We also passed the motel where they stayed some 36 years ago.  It is not a motel anymore but the name is still the same-- Dream Island.   We made it to Provo, moved Andrew into his apartment, and met his roommate/former missionary companion Ryan. We made a couple of stops at Wal-Mart and Target, ate dinner with our good friends Jack and Marie Murphy, went to Seven Peaks with Andrew and his roommate, and made a late night stop at the BYU Creamery.  Overall it was a great trip!  Enjoy some of our pictures from the 20 hour drive!

The Moores Go to Washington

Mom, Andrew, and I had a great week visiting my sister and her family in Washington D.C. It was fun. We visited a lot of different museums and monuments. Enjoy our pictures!

We visited the National Museum of Natural History. They had a butterfly house. The butterflies loved Andrew, especially his hair.

Inside the museum they had the Orkin Insect Gallery. I think it must have been Joseph's favorite part. The insects were huge!! I was surprised how big they were. But that didn't bother Joseph Even Grandma held some!One of my favorite tours we went on was the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It was very interesting. I had never been there. I loved learning how all the money we have is made and how much they make per day! It's incredible!Another neat thing we did was to go up inside the Washington Monument. It was great. A little scary as they tell you on your way up that there is nothing holding up the stones except gravity. But we all made it, safe and sound!Probably my favorite story of the trip was with this feather. Joseph found the feather as we were walking. We were waiting to get through the security check for the Washington Monument, they asked if anyone had any weapons or anything of that kind. We, of course, said no. But then, as we were waiting Joseph says, "I have a feather!" The guard tried to assure him that his feather wouldn't be a problem, but he continued to say, "well... it's pointy!" I loved reading about Sandra Day O'Conner. What an interesting woman!It wouldn't be a trip to Washington D.C. without stopping by the monuments at night. We did see the Jefferson Memorial, but our camera wasn't working very well so there isn't any proof. The Air Force Memorial.

Catching Up

Delaware-Rehoboth Beach

The day after the Fourth Marc was off work. We took a road trip to the Delaware Rehoboth Beach. We all enjoyed a day at the beach. I loved watching Joseph try to jump the waves.Marc and JosephHe asked Marc to bury him in the sand. He was loving it!!The finished result.And of course we found plenty of dead jelly fish. Joseph was brave enough to catch some. Not me. :)Joseph breaking the waves! Joseph loved playing with Uncle Andrew! They were always fun to watch.

This is by far my favorite picture of the day. We have all tried to figure out if Joseph is extremely tan or if Andrew is just extremely white. Who knows, maybe a little of both! :)
